Gallery of Quilts
A look at the last year of quilting.
"Yuletide Jellyroll" by Birdy
A jelly roll quilt with 3x3" white squares between each strip to add that holiday twinkle. Ladder is comprised of 9-patch squares with a red snowflake backing.
"Underwater Adventure for Baby Taylor" By Rusty and Birdy
A double Irish chain pattern, featuring a beautiful blue on blue batik and white on white calico cotton. Individual sea creatures quilted by Bird while pattern and piecing designed by Rusty.
"Paris-Bound for Baby Melvin" by Birdy
Mixed materials and textures came together beautifully for a sophisticated display for a Paris loving family. Eiffel Tower design free-motion quilted, quilt double filled for a soft place to land during tummy-time adventures.
"Camping Under the Stars for Baby Castiglione" by Rusty
Rusty's first quilt! Baby-soft flannels make this blanket just as lovely to touch as it is to look at. Oversized for a baby, this quilt will hopefully be dragged around for years of cuddling.
"Good Luck Amy" by Rusty and Birdy
Another double Irish chain quilt, this time for a dear friend undergoing a difficult procedure for cancer. Green batiks pair and high quality white on white calico from Missouri Star Quilt Company. Can you find the lucky four-leafed clover? This quilt was gifted with a matching travel bag for bringing it to scary appointments or chemo therapy.
WIPs: A sneak peek into our current work-in-progress
"Klimt's Love Story for Baby Miller" by Birdy
Fabric custom printed from Spoonflower for this masterpiece inspired quilt for the baby of my art-school roommate in college. Batik fabrics in jewel tones are accented with gold Superior brand metallic thread. Metallic thread is a new venture, and more than 30 hours have been spent on the quilting alone. One of a kind for sure!
"Rob Appell's Three Dudes Quilt Variation" by Rusty
Inspired by one of our favorite quilters, Rob Appell, Rusty has had this one on the back burner for awhile. The bold hues of cool batiks are brilliant to behold, and deciding how to pull them all together has been an adventure in color and design.

Quilting takes a lot of time, space, and overhead cost for materials that will keep your loved ones warm and cozy for generations. Many people are surprised to learn that thread, fabric, and needles alone can cost well into the hundreds.
Here's how our pricing works:
Materials:
Fabric $12-20 per yard
Crib Quilts: 3 - 4 yards
Single Bed Quilt: 6 - 8 yards
Full sized Quilt: 16+ yards
(We do not make anything larger than a full sized quilt at this time)
Thread $6-10 per spool depending on material (polyester vs cotton, metallic etc.)
Crib Quilts: 1-2 spools
Single Bed Quilt 2-3 spools
Full sized Quilt: 4+ spools
Batting $12-16 per yard
(variation in size depends on thickness; single vs double filled
Crib Quilts: 2-4 yards
Single Bed Quilt: 3-6 yards
Full sized Quilt: 4-8 yards
Needles $8-10 per project
Labor: each project above took more than 60 hours of experienced measuring, cutting, ironing, piecing, quilting, and binding- often from two people working together. With all that investment of time and energy, it is truly impossible to put an affordable rate for skilled craftsmanship and experience.
We concluded that 2x the cost of materials quoted above for each project was a reasonable trade, with a minimum starting price of $300 per project.
We make you a quilt, and we get to make our own quilt of the same value with the proceeds- which more often than not- goes to someone in our community. The $300 minimum rate gives your quilters a $2.50 per hour rate together, or roughly $1.25 each for the smallest possible project. It also gives you a nice $150 buffer for some excellent materials for a baby quilt. The kind of quilt a child can drag everywhere for years and survive trips through the washer and dryer.
